"A lovely, cozy atmosphere an inn which makes the hurried 21st century seem a distant memory. We particularly loved the paneled walls and beautiful carved rocking chairs. Its all so picturesque and relaxing here and its very clear that a lot of effort and thought has gone into the décor. Fantastic breakfast with great company and conversation."

SUTTER CREEK INFORMATION AND DIRECTIONS

Sutter Creek Today: A walking tour through the town of Sutter Creek reveals numerous historic homes and commercial buildings in the architectural style of the late 1800s and the early 1900s. There are many excellent restaurants, galleries and shops nestled into the picturesque storefronts. Wandering through the quaint neighborhoods is an easy stroll and a relaxing tour of early California history - a must do when you visit Sutter Creek.

Sutter Creek Yesterday: Sutter Creek was settled by lumbermen supplying wood for the community of Sutter's Ford (now Sacramento) in the 1940's. The community acquired the name "Sutter's Creek" when John Sutter and his entourage camped here in 1848 - shortly after gold was discovered at his mill in Coloma, 45 miles to the north. This temporary encampment became a permanent town when gold was discovered in the ridges of "Sutter's" Creek. Quartz mills, foundries to cast parts for the machinery of the new mining industry, provisioning centers, hotels and offices were established in Sutter Creek to support the enterprise. In 1854, Sutter Creek was incorporated as a town.

On March 1 the Amador City-Sutter Creek Hwy 49 Bypass opened to the public. Please be aware that when you are driving from the North (Hwy 16 to Hwy 49) you will need to move to the left lane and make a left turn to proceed thru Amador City and into Sutter Creek. If you are coming in from Jackson on Hwy 49 you'll cross Ridge Road (Four Way Light) and if you are in the left lane you'll find yourself on the bypass heading north around Sutter Creek. You'll need to stay in the right lane and turn right which will take you into Sutter Creek.

Eureka Street Inn is located at 55 Eureka Street. We are connected to Highway 49 in the heart of downtown Sutter Creek.

Coming from North: Turn left on to Eureka Street - across from the Sutter Creek Ice Cream Store.

Coming from South: Turn right on to Eureka Street at the first right hand turn after crossing the bridge that crosses Sutter Creek.
