DINING IN SUTTER CREEK
Our
guests often express with a high degree of astonishment, their
delight in discovering that tiny Sutter Creek is "blessed with
such excellent restaurants," and all of them within "strolling"
distance from the Inn!
From
"café hearty" to "fine dining"…we doubt that you'll find a better
quality dining experience in any vacation or urban area, than
we can provide in Sutter Creek. And of course…you will enjoy
a fine variety of Amador County wines as part of your dining
experience.
Menus
from all of the restaurants are available for your perusal at
the inn. We recommend however, that you consider letting us
make your dining reservations when you book your stay at the
inn as, due to the high quality of the eating establishments
in Sutter Creek, the restaurants fill up very quickly.
Sutter
Creek cuisine ranges from café homemade "hearty" to fine dining.
Casual or elegant - one course or five, the quality of the food
and the friendly service provide an experience you will not
want to miss. Round out the evening with a visit to the ice
cream parlor and a performance at the Main Street Theatre.
There
are many excellent restaurants in Amador County. The following
are our favorites:
Lunch
and Dinner Recommendations in Sutter Creek – all within
a two minute walking distance from the Eureka Street Inn.
Café’
Via d’Oro – offers fine dining in a “classy”
but not “stuffy” environment. Excellent appetizers,
steaks and over-all fine California cuisine. The “Café”
has been beautifully renovated, offers a full bar and a pleasant
ambiance.
Sutter
Creek Palace – offers a very good continental
menu. Among other delicious items, an excellent portabello mushroom
dish and great lamb shanks. The Sutter Creek Palace has an interesting
history, beautiful stained glass windows, a beautiful old bar
and an attractive and relaxing ambiance whether you prefer seating
inside or out. There is live music in the bar on must weekend
evenings.
Susan’s
Place – Wine Bar and Eatery- Located right here
on Eureka Street, Susan’s Place offers an excellent dining
experience for both lunch and dinner and the wine bar features
many of Amador County’s best wines – most of which
are not available outside of Amador County. The ambiance at
Susan’s Place is soft and inviting – outdoors or
in and in fact, we have a number of guests who visit Susan’s
Place more than once on a weekend!
Belotti’s
at the American Exchange Hotel – offers hearty
Italian cuisine with a touch of “good old American”
food. Our favorites are the lasagna made with the freshest ingredients
and a very good salmon dish. Enjoy a taste of Sutter Creek history
while you dine.
Back
Roads Café – offers an excellent lunch
– we suggest a “wrap” or a terrific Chinese
Chicken Salad.
Thomi’s
Café and Eatery – serves breakfast and
lunch, great sandwiches and good “café fare”.
Sutter
Creek Coffee Roasting Company – Just a half block
from the Inn on Eureka Street, offers gourmet coffee roasted
right there before your eyes! In typical Sutter Creek fashion
of providing “foodies” with both the “new”
and the “old,” no visitor need give up their gourmet
coffee while out and about in Sutter Creek. The wonderful smell
of Sutter Creek Coffee Roasting Company roasting their coffee
is familiar in Sutter Creek and is only exceeded by the taste
of their excellent blends.
Outside of Sutter Creek
Taste Restaurant
in Plymouth – The owner/chef at “Taste” has
been featured in such magazines as Bon Appetit and
when you sample the fare, you will understand why! The menu
offers such items as “mushroom cigars” duck rillettes,
rabbit pommery, grilled lamb “Tandori” and even
Mediterranean Tamales! Tasty, interesting, and beautifully presented,
dining at “Taste” is an experience you won’t
soon forget.
