Gold Mine Tours

There are several gold mines in the area with both surface and subterranean tours. Sutter Gold Mine: A commercial venture offering underground tours, panning and a visitor center. Open for tours daily from 10:00 to 4:00 - no appointments needed except for reservations made in advance by large groups. Located on Highway 49, just North of Sutter Creek. Kennedy Mine Tours: This 1880 gold mine, was once one of the richest in the Mother Lode, offers tours and panning on the weekends March-October. Another Tour Option

Kennedy Mine Amphitheatre: entertainment, music performances and excellent quality plays (acting by some local actors and many name actors from Sacramento and throughout the Greater Bay Area. Bring a picnic dinner if you like, and relax in the star light under the beautiful oak trees for an evening of relaxation and great entertainment.

Volcano Amphitheatre: plays by the Volcano Players most summer evenings.

Fishing: The many fine lakes and streams in the area make this an attractive area for fishing. Your host is a knowledgeable angler and will be happy to assist you with information and directions.

Hiking, Cross Country and Downhill Skiing: The hiking trails and excellent downhill and cross country skiing of the High Sierra are a short drive from the inn. When you return, you can relax on the porch, in the parlor or in cozy privacy around your own fireplace.

Dining: The excellent restaurants of Sutter Creek and neighboring Gold Rush Era towns are located within walking distance or just a short drive from the inn.

Specialty Shops: Sutter Creek shops showcase the best in fashion, garden and home furnishings, crafts and the art of local and regional artisans who produce the finest American art - contemporary and collectible.

Knight Foundry: Established in 1873, the world's only water powered foundry is just two doors down from the inn.

Family Activities: Picnics, live stage performances, shows, fiestas and a gaming casino provide entertainment on most weekends.

 

Daffodil Hill

Enjoy 4 acres of daffodils with over 300,00 bulbs at this beautiful private farm. The season opens each spring. The hours are 9-5 daily when open. Call the Chamber of Commerce at 209-223-0350 to verify opening date.
